Definition
A practice area page is a dedicated page on a law firm website describing one area of law the firm handles, such as car accident claims or DUI defense. It is usually the page that ranks for high-value commercial searches and converts visitors into consultations.
Why it matters for law firms
Google ranks pages, not firms. A single 'Practice Areas' page listing ten services in a few lines each rarely ranks for any of them. Separate, detailed pages for each practice area, and often for important sub-types, give each one a real chance to rank.
Example
A personal injury firm replaces one generic 'Personal Injury' page with separate pages for car accidents, truck accidents, slip and fall, and wrongful death. Each page answers the specific questions clients ask about that case type.
How to improve it
- Create one page per practice area and major case type.
- Answer real client questions: process, timelines, costs, what to do next.
- Show attorney credentials and relevant results, following bar rules.
- Include a clear call to action and internal links to related guides.
