Definition
LegalService is a Schema.org type for businesses that provide legal services. Law firms use it in JSON-LD to describe their name, address, phone, opening hours, service area and practice areas in a format search engines can read reliably.
Why it matters for law firms
It reinforces the same facts shown in your Google Business Profile and on your website, which strengthens local and entity signals. For multi-office firms, separate LegalService markup on each location page helps Google tie each office to the right city.
Example
A real estate law firm with offices in Dallas and Austin adds a LegalService block to each location page, with that office's address, phone and areaServed. Each office's page aligns with its own Google Business Profile.
How to improve it
- Include name, url, telephone, address, geo, openingHours and areaServed.
- Use sameAs to link your GBP and major legal directory profiles.
- Use one block per physical office on its own location page.
- Match every value exactly to your NAP details.
